Why Stay Out of Resort on Your Next School Ski Trip?
Find out why accommodation offering doorstep skiing might not be the best option for your next school ski trip!
This season, the average school ski trip is working out about £1000-£1500 per person.
Of course, the price can vary massively depending on where you want to ski, how you want to get to your resort, the standard of hotel you want to stay in and the number of ski lessons you want to include.
Dates also have a big impact on the cost, with February half-term usually the most expensive time to ski.
Don’t worry though, as an experienced school ski trip company, we’ll work with you to design a package that meets your requirements and fits your budget.
You should bring the following essentials: ski gear, thermal clothing, waterproof jacket and trousers, gloves, neck buff, woolly hat, sunglasses/goggles, non-ski clothes, walking boots, personal items (passport, medication, sunscreen), and a water bottle. See our packing checklist for more details on what to bring - and make sure you share it with your group before you travel.
It’s totally up to you how many days you want to ski.
Most schools go for 9-day trips, spending 6 days’ skiing for 4 hours each day.
Pro tip – go for an 8-day trip with 5 days of skiing for 5 hours per day. You’ll save a huge amount from needing one day less of accommodation and lift passes – and you’ll actually have an extra hour of lessons. It’s a no-brainer.
Yep, all our ski trips include the services of a Halsbury rep.
Your rep will usually speak the local lingo, so they can sort out any issues you have with meals, activities, equipment or ski passes.
We do, but it’s an optional extra so it’s up to you whether you add it to your booking.
To find out more about it, head to our insurance page, where you can view the policy, as well as some really helpful FAQs.
If you decide not to add this insurance to your booking, please make sure you do have alternative insurance in place that provides suitable cover for your ski trip.
Absolutely. In fact, we usually offer two inspection visits each year, usually around Christmas and Easter. This is a great opportunity to test-drive the Halsbury experience before your trip – and meet like-minded, ski-mad colleagues to swap tips.
Our Ski Specialists have first-hand knowledge of the resorts we offer and are available to answer all your questions!
Firstly, I want to say a massive thank you for all of your help. The trip was amazing, for staff and pupils alike. I cannot say just how happy we are with Halsbury. The booking, organisation and running of the trip was easy and well structured. Lisa Brown was excellent with the admin and communicated consistently throughout, making the organisation simple. Our reps, Jon Doel, Tricia Cooke and Khursana Tairova, were fantastic. Any issues that occurred were brought to us with a solution in place. They accompanied us throughout the trip, including meals and social times which offered a real personal experience. However, the best thing was how active they were with our students. They encouraged and accompanied our students when skiing and during activities. They took the time to get to know our staff and pupils, providing the best experience for all. We cannot emphasise enough just how great our experience was.

Your quote will be put together by an experienced Tour Adviser who’ll be an expert in skiing trips and knows our resorts really well. They’ll work with you to create a trip to suit your group’s needs and budget.
The next step is to get your trip approved and get students signed up to it. Our ‘Trip Launch Pack’ will help you with this step. This is full of resources (all free to download) designed to make your life easier at this crucial point in the trip planning process.
Once you’ve booked, your dedicated Itinerary Coordinator will start work on the finer details. They’ll make sure your ski lessons, ski hire and après-ski activities are all sorted and they’ll take on most of the other admin tasks for your trip (so you can look forward to the trip as much as the kids).
While you’re abroad, you’ll be looked after by a Halsbury rep based in your resort. And Halsbury HQ staff will be on the end of the phone 24 hours a day. You’ll get a final info pack before you go with all the info you need, plus access to all your trip documents on the Vamoos app.
When you return from your trip, we’ll ask you to complete a detailed feedback survey, so we can continue our service. This is also the perfect time to start planning your next trip, so you can give parents plenty of time to pay for it (and make it easier for you).
