There’s no getting around it. Organising a school trip involves admin.
But you shouldn’t need to spend your evenings chasing passport numbers, checking spreadsheets or working out which parents still haven’t sent you their child’s dietary information.
That’s why we created My Trip Zone, our secure online portal for managing the information and deadlines associated with your trip.
Send parents a secure link to a digital form and they can provide their child’s passport, medical and dietary information securely. They can even scan the passport with a smartphone (making sure the details entered match the document).
And that’s not the only way we help with the paperwork. Because we hold the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge and have a rigorous Safety Management System in place, we can also help make your school’s provider assessment and risk assessment process more straightforward.
That’s why personal service is such an important part of the way we work.
You won’t be left to figure everything out through an online booking system. You’ll have experienced school travel specialists who’ll get to know your trip, your priorities and the things that matter to your group.
Need to change the itinerary? Trying to bring the price down? Not sure whether a particular visit will work for your students? Just ask.
We’ll listen. We’ll give you practical advice. And we’ll always help you find a solution that works for you.
It’s an approach our teachers really value. Because when you’ve got enough to manage at school, it makes a real difference knowing there’s a person at the other end of the phone who already understands your trip.
Your students are different. Your objectives are different. Your budget is different.
So, your school trip should be different too.
When you enquire with Halsbury, we’ll take the time to understand what you want the trip to achieve.
That might mean supporting a particular GCSE or A-Level specification. Giving students opportunities to practise a language. Bringing a historical period to life. Inspiring young musicians. Challenging a sports team. Or simply giving your students the chance to experience somewhere completely new.
We’ll also talk about the practicalities (like your dates, budget, group size, preferred transport and pace, as well as the places you want to visit, and the ones you don’t).
Then we’ll take the time to build a trip around those requirements (rather than send you an off-the-shelf template) with a workable itinerary from the start.
If the first version isn’t quite right, we’ll change it. In fact, you can refine your trip with us until you’re happy that it works educationally, practically and financially.
Organising a school trip can feel like a big responsibility. You don’t have to carry it on your own.
From the moment you enquire, you’ll have experienced school travel specialists to help you through the process.
We can help you decide where to go. Suggest visits. Work around your budget. Answer questions from senior leaders or parents. Help with the information you need for approval. Arrange your transport and accommodation.
Book your visits. And make sure the final itinerary works when you actually get there.
Most importantly, we don’t disappear once the coach leaves the school.
While you’re away, our emergency support is available 24 hours a day.
Flights can change. Coaches can be delayed. Students can become unwell. Plans sometimes need to change quickly.
If something unexpected happens, you’ll have someone to call who knows school travel and can help you deal with it.
Because when you’re responsible for a group of young people away from home, knowing there’s an experienced team behind you matters.
Your students’ safety has to come first.
You already know that. So do we.
Halsbury is an Assured Member of the School Travel Forum (STF) and we operate a comprehensive Safety Management System covering the suppliers (e.g. transport, accommodation and activity suppliers) and services used on our school trips.
Our safety processes are designed specifically around educational travel and the needs of groups of children and young people. And these processes are reviewed and independently audited every year, in order to maintain our membership of the STF.
We also hold the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge, which recognises providers offering high-quality learning experiences and effective risk management.
We’ll provide the information you need to support your own risk assessment and approval processes (and our experienced team will be available if you need help finding something or answering a question).
So, you can make informed decisions about your trip with confidence.
We work with safeguarding specialists Patronus Safeguarding to help ensure safeguarding concerns are recorded and managed clearly and consistently.
That helps us keep safeguarding firmly embedded in the way we plan and operate our school trips.
And it means that if a safeguarding concern does arise, our team has clear processes to follow.
So, knowing how that money is protected matters.
Halsbury is a member of ABTA and ABTOT and holds an ATOL licence.
The exact protection that applies depends on the type of package you book (for example, whether your trip includes flights).
We’ll make the financial protection applying to your booking clear so you, your school and your parents can book with confidence.

That matters to us because school travel has never simply been another branch of the travel industry.
Schools work differently.
You have approval processes to follow. Educational objectives to meet. Parents to communicate with. Budgets to manage. Young people to keep safe. And a trip still has to work around everything happening at school.
We understand those pressures because school travel has been our specialism since 1986.
Over those years, we’ve helped teachers take students around the UK, across Europe and further afield.
That experience helps us spot potential problems before they become problems.
It helps us build itineraries that are realistic (rather than trying to cram too much into one day).
It helps us recommend visits that work well for school groups.
And when something unexpected does happen, it means you have an experienced team behind you who know what to do next.
Make an enquiry and one of our Tour Consultants will get in touch.
We’ll talk about what you want your students to get from the trip (as well as your destination, dates, budget and any ideas you already have).
We’ll create a quote based on what you’ve actually asked for.
That means realistic pricing and a workable itinerary designed around your group. Want to add something? Take something out? Slow the itinerary down? Find a way to reduce the cost? Just tell us.
Once you book, your dedicated Itinerary Coordinator will start to work on confirming your travel arrangements, accommodation, visits and excursions (and all the other details needed to make the itinerary run smoothly). And My Trip Zone will help you keep on top of the information and deadlines we need from you.
As departure gets closer, we’ll make sure you have the information you need for your trip.
If you have questions, ask us. If your plans change, tell us. And if you need something for your school’s approval process, we’ll help you find it. You’re not organising the trip alone.
Once the trip begins, our support doesn’t stop.
You’ll have access to 24/7 emergency assistance while you’re travelling. So, if something changes or goes wrong, call us and we’ll help you work out what happens next.
This is the bit all the planning was for.
The first glimpse of somewhere they’ve only seen in a textbook. The moment something they’ve learned in class suddenly makes sense because they’re standing right in front of it. Those experiences stay with young people.
We’ll deal with the detail so you can help make them happen.
