Rawlins Academy's School Ski Trip to Montgenevre

Our main aim for this trip was to improve skiing skills, provide students with the opportunity to build lifelong memories and allow them to experience European culture. 

Ben (our Tour Adviser at Halsbury Travel) took the time to understand our needs when booking the trip, with skiing being our primary focus. Given the late end to the season, we required a snow-sure resort, and Montgenevre offered exactly that. It combined great value with excellent après-ski alternatives across the wider Milky Way ski area. It was important that we found a resort that would cater for mixed-ability skiers - and within our price range. 

Our previous experiences at neighbouring resorts have been positive and we felt that the relatively short transfer time, combined with value for money, made this the best option for our trip. 

Despite warm weather, our group experienced the full seasonality of skiing conditions, which proved invaluable. Early in the trip, warm temperatures led to sticky snow. Later, we enjoyed the biggest snowfall of the season, providing an incredible powder day. The trip ended under beautiful sunshine and, thanks to this variety in weather conditions and excellent instruction by the local ski school, we felt that our students made better progress than on any other ski trip. 

We were able to recruit additional instruction when in resort, to support several students who found skiing hard. This helped us enhance our offer, allowing for smaller groups and more precise and direct instruction for all of our students. 

Beyond skiing, we engaged in a range of après-ski activities. Bowling at a charming arcade in France was a highlight and the disco in Sestriere was great fun. The pizza night was a favourite among students and the Monte Luge was an exciting new experience for everyone which we managed to enjoy on the last day. We like the Milky Way area because of the ability to try après-ski activities in new places!

The trip will be remembered for the great progress our students made, their happiness and the smooth running of the trip which made my experience as trip leader a pleasant one!

A really good example of this was the communication with the hotel. We had some important dietary requirements and rooming needs which were shared accurately with the hotel. As a result, the hotel (Hotel Solaris) was really accommodating and attentive to our needs.  

The experience of working with Halsbury was entirely positive. We felt supported throughout the trip and benefited from an outstanding representative in resort who was proactive in making our trip smooth and enjoyable.
