Referred to by the Viennese as the "Burg", until 1918 the Imperial Palace was the residence of the Habsburg emperors. The complex grew to its present size and splendor between the 13th century and shortly before the end of the Astro-Hungarian Monarchy. Today you can still marvel at the glamour of the imperial age here, with over two dozen collections of world standing, a major congress centre in the magnificent historic state rooms, as well as performances by the Vienna Boys' Choir and the Lipizzaners of the Spanish Riding School. Today, the Imperial Palace also houses the offices of the Austrian president.
