Looking For Sole Occupancy On Your Next School Ski Trip?

A sole occupancy hotel could make your risk assessments easier and help to get parents on board with your trip.

Sole occupancy of your hotel is a very attractive prospect for school groups. It means you won't need to manage your pupils' contact with other guests, and you'll have exclusive access to the hotel's facilities.

Of course, the number of hotels offering sole-occupancy is small, but if this is something that's really important to you, just let us know when you enquire and we can have a chat about the options.

Our top sole-occupancy hotels

Hotel Gabriella - Cimone, Italy

image-1601649114992 image

This lovely 3 hotel offers an excellent standard of accommodation – some of the best we’ve seen on offer for school groups, in fact. The hotel has 52 beds and so is a great option for groups looking for sole occupancy accommodation close to Cimone.

The ski slopes are just a 10-minute drive away, and when you get there, you’ll benefit from hot lunches and ski storage next to the ski school. This is much like the set-up in Andorra, which is always very popular with our school groups – Italy offers this experience at a more affordable price.

Cimone is a charming resort and boasts the highest peak in the Northern Apennines. The slopes tend to be fairly empty during the week, as the resort is most popular with local Italians who tend to visit over the weekends. This is fantastic news for your learners, as quieter slopes mean they can make faster progress and virtually no lift queues.

Hotel Villa Cinzia – Prato Nevoso/Artesina, Italy

The Hotel Villa Cinzia is a great option for groups looking for sole occupancy accommodation in one of our most popular resorts – Prato Nevoso/Artesina. This family-run 4-star hotel has 52 beds, and all rooms have en-suite bathroom facilities.

The hotel is a 30-minute drive from the slopes, but once you’re there, you’ll be provided with hot lunches on the slopes and ski storage next to the ski school, so you won’t waste time trekking between the hotel and the slopes.

Prato Nevoso/Artesina is always a hit with our groups. With a warm, welcoming atmosphere and friendly ski school, this is a wonderful place to learn to ski. Plus, as part of the huge Mondole ski area, you’ll have access to 130km of skiable terrain!

Hotel Miramonti – Claviere, Italy

image-1550498219852 image

The Hotel Miramonti offers sole occupancy for groups of at least 65. It's one of our most popular sole occupancy options because it’s just a 5-minute walk from the ski area in Claviere and a 5-minute drive from the high-altitude French resort of Montgenevre.

Thanks to being so close to the ski area in Claviere, hot lunches are usually enjoyed at the family-run hotel, so you can keep walking in ski boots and carrying skis to the bare minimum.

And when you don't want to head into the resort centre, you can use the hotel's bar and restaurant area to run any après-ski activities. Plus, its elevated position means you'll enjoy incredible views of the surrounding mountains.

Choosing Claviere for your school ski trip will allow you to ski into France from Italy. It will also offer you the chance to experience the famous Milky Way area. All of which makes for a truly unforgettable school ski trip!

Hotel Fiocco Di Neve - Pinzolo, Italy

The Hotel Fiocco Di Neve in Pinzolo offers sole occupancy for larger groups of at least 75. Just 350m from the main gondola providing access to both Pinzolo and Madonna di Campiglio, this is another great hotel in a great location.

The hotel is just a short walk from the centre of Pinzolo, where there are cake and ice cream shops, a cinema, and a couple of supermarkets.

The hotel's restaurant offers the opportunity to sample some local delicacies from Trentino, as well as many of the national dishes that go down so well with schoolchildren.

As well as child-friendly food, you'll enjoy a warm, hearty welcome from the hotelier and his staff, who are very experienced in welcoming school groups.

Hotel Posthof - Bad Kleinkirchheim, Austria

If you have a group of 50-75 and want to ski in Bad Kleinkirchheim, you could enjoy sole occupancy of the Hotel Posthof (subject to availability, obviously).

The hotel is in Millstatt am See. If you've ever visited Zell am See, then this setting will feel familiar, as it's also a beautiful lakeside town. The hotel is within walking distance of the centre and the shops, which means a relaxed late afternoon/evening walk into town is certainly possible.

A quieter location than Bad Kleinkirchheim itself, Millstatt am See is a safe destination for school groups. And Bad Kleinkirchheim itself is just a 20-minute drive from the hotel, so you could still visit the town (the slopes are just another 5 minutes from there).

The hotelier is very flexible and experienced at working with school groups, so you'll definitely be made to feel welcome here. There's a large restaurant (so you can all sit down to dinner at the same time), and you can use the restaurant once it's been cleared down for a quiz or other evening entertainment. There's also a ski and boot room at the hotel, which is really convenient, too.

Berghof Mitterberg - Schladming, Austria

image-1555575481735 image

Another great option for groups of 50-75 is the Berghof Mitterberg in Matzling. This hotel will allow your group to ski the world-famous resort of Schladming (which is so popular it often works out to be over budget for many school groups).

If you're planning a trip during Easter, we would highly recommend this resort and hotel. The skiing is usually fantastic in Schladming at that time of year (and the Dachstein glacier is nearby, too).

The location is spectacular, in the beautiful meadows and with views of the Grimmig mountain. There isn't much in Matzling itself, so if you want to go shopping, you would need to head into Schladming itself.  The good news is, it's just a 20-minute drive to the traditional, unspoilt centre of Schladming from the hotel.

And, in reality, the hotel's fantastic facilities mean that you're unlikely to want to head out to Schladming more than once or twice. The hotel boasts its own bowling alley, fitness room, table tennis and football facilities. There's also an impressive indoor swimming pool with spectacular panoramic views. Plus, there's a ski and boot room to store your equipment.
