A school sports tour within the UK can be just as unforgettable as travelling abroad. And we’ve just added a load of new destinations, including Lee Valley in Greater London, Bath, York, Leicester, Loughborough, Manchester, the National Forest, Holme Pierrepont near Nottingham and the Lake District.
These are in addition to Cardiff and Edinburgh which were already popular among our school groups, many of whom choose to alternate between UK school sports tours and tours abroad.
Not something you’d considered before? Here’s why you should stay in the UK for your next school sports tour.
The UK offers a little bit of everything
Whichever destination you choose, you’ll be able to enjoy sport, culture and beautiful landscapes or architecture.
From the historic castles of York, Cardiff and Edinburgh to the spectacular landscape of the Lake District, your students will love the opportunity to explore more of their own country on your next school sports tour.
And our school sports tours within the UK cover the full range of sports, including football, rugby, hockey, netball, cricket, water sports and, of course, multisports.
Wherever you choose, you’ll have the option to watch live sport
One of the great things about the UK is that there’s always some sport going on. You can choose to add match tickets to see professional football, rugby, cricket or netball while on your sports tour within the UK, giving your students the chance to see the pros in action.
There’s no need to worry about passports or language barriers
Of course, if you choose to stay in the UK on your next school sports tour, you won’t need to worry about the logistics of passports or getting your group through an airport. Plus, you won’t need to worry about any language barriers!
All destinations are within easy reach of your school
Wherever you choose to go, the journey time is likely to be significantly less than if you were to travel abroad.
And you’ll be able to drive, so if your school has its own coach or minibus, you’ll be able to save some money on your tour too! Of course, we can always arrange a private coach should you require one.
The UK offers some of the best facilities and most welcoming hosts
We don’t talk enough about how great sports facilities in the UK are, especially for those sports played in UK schools.
Take, for example, St. George’s Park in Staffordshire. All 28 of England’s national football teams train here because the facilities are world class. And your footballers can train here too, on one of our school football tours.
Plus, we have a great sporting culture here, where post-match socialising between teams is the norm. This means that you’ll always feel really welcomed by your hosts, no matter how tough the match!
You can build in visits to leading sports universities
Bath and Loughborough are home to two of the country’s leading sports universities. Both have attracted several elite athletes, including Olympians, to either train or study there.
If you choose one of these destinations, you could add in a visit to the university, where your students can learn about the sporting opportunities available to them in higher education.
Any sport played at school in the UK can be well catered for on a UK tour
The sport content of a school sports tour within the UK can be as good, if not better than any tour abroad. And that’s because you’ll be able to play your sport, at a time of year that works for you, with age groups that match exactly.
And you’ll be helping the economy to recover from Covid-19!
By staying in the UK for your next school sports tour, you’ll be helping out the economy in the destination you visit and that of the UK as a whole after such a difficult time.
Let’s start planning!
