Snowsport England Launch GO RACE GO FREESTYLE
We reported last week on the launch of Snowsport England’s ’30 Days of Snowsport’ campaign, which is part of their ongoing GO SKI GO BOARD initiative. This week (23rd September 2014), they launched GO RACE GO FREESTYLE at the Hemel Hempstead Snow Centre, with the help of Team GB athletes, Katie Summerhayes and Darcie Mead.
The GO SKI GO BOARD initiative was very successful in its first year, with 10,000 participants. GO RACE GO FREESTYLE is aimed at encouraging them, and others who already have some experience of skiing/snowboarding, to get more involved in snowsports and perhaps even to try something different! It is hoped that the success of Team GB at the Winter Olympics in Sochi will also inspire people to go along to one of the many indoor and artificial slopes and snowsports clubs that are participating in the scheme.
As with GO SKI GO BOARD, there will be several levels of sessions to suit all levels of previous experience: ‘TRY’, ‘GO’ and ‘JUST’.
-‘TRY’ - taster sessions, allowing freestylers to have their first experience in a snowpark and racers their first go at skiing through gates.
-‘GO’ - involves learning the basic skills required for Alpine ski racing or freestyle
-‘JUST’ – regular, recreational sessions, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the snowsports lifestyle and meet like-minded people

We think that it is fantastic that Snowsport England have introduced this initiative as a complement to their GO SKI GO BOARD programme and hope that this will both see more people getting involved in snowsports, whatever their previous experience, and enjoying a different side to skiing/snowboarding. Our school ski tours are tailor-made, catering to the experience and requirements of your skiers/snowboarders. Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information on what we can offer your group.
