Ski for Less Next Easter!18/04/2017 14:23:33
Easter is always a popular time for school ski trips. The two week break from school means that you can enjoy the trip and still have time to have a real break too (or, perhaps more realistically, make some headway with that pile of marking!).
The slopes are always a little less manic than during February half term and, of course, you’re far more likely to see some sunshine! And, as long as you choose the right resort, conditions can still be great at this time of year!
Plus, prices are generally a little bit lower than earlier in the season. So, if you’re thinking about a school ski trip for Easter 2018, here are some of our best deals!
Madesimo from just £879pp
• High-altitude, doorstep skiing
• Hot lunches included
• Hotel with pool (Hotel Arlecchino)
Madesimo really is a fantastic choice of resort for your next school ski trip. Not only does it offer doorstep skiing, but this high-altitude resort is also snow-sure! Plus, of course, you can also look forward to the typically warm Italian welcome!
As well as all that, the slopes here are generally uncrowded and the lift system is one of the most modern in Europe, so your students aren’t going to be wasting half their day waiting in queues!
The Hotel Arlecchino is metres away from the town’s runs and directly opposite both the Arlecchino and Montalto cable cars, so you really will enjoy doorstep skiing here. There’s also in-house ski storage facilities and an indoor pool, as well as space you can use for your evening activities!
Madonna di Campiglio from just £779pp
• Chic resort
• Stunning Dolomite skiing
• Sole occupancy hotel (Hotel Garni Bepy)
This beautiful, elegant resort is a real charmer and one your students (and teachers!) are bound to fall in love with. Set in the spectacular Dolomites, the scenery in Madonna di Campiglio is quite unlike the more traditional Alpine resorts. Plus, the high-altitude means you can rely on good snow cover here.
And you can book sole occupancy at the lovely Hotel Garni Bepy, in the nearby village of Pinzolo. Here you’ll be just 900m from the ski lifts. The hotel offers free WiFi, so you’ll be able to update social media with all your action shots from the day’s skiing, as well as keep in touch with parents.
Sansicario from just £789pp
• Ski safari – explore the Milky Way
• High-altitude resort
• Hotel built for Winter Olympians (Olympic Centre)
Part of the vast Milky Way ski area, staying in Sansicario offers you access to an incredible 400km of skiing across two countries – Italy and France. Every village in the area has a different character and offers different skiing opportunities – with a ski safari you’ll have the chance to experience this!
Sansicario itself is a purpose-built resort and hosted some of the events in the 2006 Winter Olympics. The resort boasts good slopes, snow security and a traffic-free village – all important ingredients for a successful school ski trip.
You’ll stay in the 3 star Olympic Centre, which was built to house the Winter Olympians. The in-house ski hire shop is super convenient and the hotel’s restaurant offers excellent meals served buffet-style – ideal if you have any fussy eaters!
Grandvalira from just £755pp
• High-altitude resort
• High-mileage skiing
• 3 star hotel accommodation (Hotel Sant Eloi)
The biggest ski area in the Pyrenees, Grandvalira offers your group access to over 210km of piste. And heavy investment in the resort’s infrastructure means that your students will spend more time exploring the area than waiting in queues!
The diversity of the skiing here is perfect for school ski groups, as there’s plenty to keep beginners, intermediates and experts happy.
The 3 star Hotel Sant Eloi is located on the outskirts of Sant Julia de Loria, a large town with some great shops and restaurants. Just 7km from the capital, Andorra la Vella and just 25 minutes from the ski area, this is the ideal location from which to explore Andorra.
Bansko from just £899pp
• Hot lunches on the slope
• Short transfers
• 4 star hotel accommodation (Hotel Bansko)
If you want Alpine quality on a budget, and prefer to fly, rather than drive across Europe in a coach, then Bansko is a fantastic option. A World Cup resort, the skiing is fantastic for both beginners and intermediates, and there are even some really challenging black runs for experts.
Bansko is a charming town in the spectacular Pirin mountains. The centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and heavy investment has seen the ski area completely modernised, with improved snow-making capabilities and new lifts.
The 4 star Hotel Bansko is within walking distance of both the town centre and the slopes, although if you don’t feel like walking the hotel also provides a shuttle bus to the slopes. There’s also an indoor swimming pool, games room and disco room, so you can be sure your young charges will be suitably entertained in the evenings too!
