Day 1

Morning

Meet your group at the airport for your overnight flight to Beijing.

Day 2

Morning

Arrive in Beijing, where you'll be greeted by your local guide. 

Transfer by private coach to hotel and check in. 

Afternoon

Visit to the Olympic Park, a lasting legacy of the. 2008 Beijing Games. 

Step inside two venues that have become modern sporting landmarks - the iconic Bird's Nest Stadium and the Water Cube. 

Evening

Evening meal.

Day 3

Morning

Breakfast at accommodation.

Head to Tiananmen Square before continuing on to the Forbidden City. 

Afternoon

Pause for lunch en-route to Summer Palace.

Explore the palace gardens, including the vast Kunming Lake and ornate Long Corridor.

Evening

Return to your accommodation for your evening meal.

Day 4

Morning

Breakfast at accommodation. 

Visit to the Great Wall of China (Juyongguan Section). 

Afternoon

Visit to the Temple of Heaven, a masterpiece of Ming dynasty architecture. 

Evening

Return to the accommodation for your evening meal. 

Day 5

Morning

Breakfast at accommodation. 

Check out of your accommodation. 

Friendly fixture against local Beijing school.

Afternoon

Lunch with fixture hosts or at local restaurant. 

Visit to Beijing Zoo. 

Guided Hutong walking tour. 

Evening

Board the bullet train for transfer to Shanghai. 

On arrival, check in to accommodation in time for evening meal. 

Day 6

Morning

Breakfast at accommodation. 

Visit to the Jade Buddha Temple, one of Shanghai's most famous Buddhist landmarks. 

Visit to the Oriental Pearl TV Tower. Ride up to the second sphere for panoramic views over the city skyline and Huangpu River. 

Afternoon

Lunch at a local restaurant. 

Visit to Yu Garden (a classical Chinese garden filled with ornate pavilions, koi ponds and winding pathways).

Evening

Enjoy a night river cruise on the Huangpu River, complete with dinner onboard. 

Day 7

Morning

Breakfast at accommodation before checking out. 

Transfer by coach to the airport for your return flight. 

Afternoon

Board your flight back to the UK.

Arrive back in the UK.

Accommodation

Beijing Feitian Hotel

The Feitian Hotel is located close to the city's central business district, approximately 6km from the Forbidden City. The Jingsong subway station is close to the hotel, offering easy access to the rest of the city. There are two restaurants - one specialising in Chinese cuisine and the other in Western cuisine. There is also a teahouse, coffeehouse and bar.

Dongfang Hotel

The Dongfang Hotel offers 288 rooms in a refurbished 1918 historic building of four connected wings. There is an indoor swimming pool and tennis court, fitness room and sauna. Restaurants offer a range of International and Asian cuisine.Guestrooms are clean and spacious, with plenty of natural light. Amenities include private balconies, cable/satellite TVs, minibars with refrigerators, air conditioning, desks with direct-dial phones, and complimentary high-speed Internet. All rooms also have coffee/tea makers, bottled water, and in-room safes. Bathrooms provide slippers, hair dryers, and shower/tub combinations.

Holiday Inn Putuo Shanghai

The Holiday Inn Putuo offers comfortable guestrooms and suites. The rooms are reasonably spacious and certain rooms have a wonderful view of the city skyline from this hotel. Facilities available include colour television with cable connection, International Direct Dialing telephone, work desk with lamp, mini bars and coffee making facilities amongst others.

The Forbidden City stands in the centre of Beijing as a monument to the city’s imperial history and rich cultural legacy.

The Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China stretches 5,500 miles across northern China, from Shanhaiguan in the eastern province of Hebei.

Oriental Pearl TV Tower

The Oriental Pearl Tower is Shanghai’s most recognisable landmark and sits opposite the Bund in Pudong Park.

The Bund

The Shanghai Bund has dozens of historical buildings lining the Huangpu River, that once housed numerous banks and trading houses from all over the world.

Huangpu River Cruise

The Huangpu River (Huangpu Jiang) is the city's shipping artery both to the East China Sea and to the mouth
