DfE Updates Advice on UK School Sports Tours

In case you missed it, we are beyond excited to say that the [Department for Education (DfE) has now confirmed that schools can start planning school sports tours within the UK](https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/actions-for-schools-during-the-coronavirus-outbreak/schools-coronavirus-covid-19-operational-guidance

It’s time to start planning!

As long as we continue to meet the conditions for unlocking as set out by the government’s roadmap, domestic residential educational visits, including school sports tours, should be able to resume from 17th May.

And, most importantly, the [DfE is now permitting schools to start planning these tours](https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/actions-for-schools-during-the-coronavirus-outbreak/schools-coronavirus-covid-19-operational-guidance

Good news for those booking with Halsbury

That’s good news for those booking with Halsbury because our Covid Guarantee means that even if you do book your school trip with us, you won’t be making any financial commitment.

If it gets to within 30 days of your school sports tour and restrictions change in a way that will affect your trip, you’ll be entitled to a full refund.

And, up until that point, the option to postpone will remain open to you, if there is any doubt about whether your tour might go ahead.

Plus, we’ve also significantly reduced the deposits required to secure your booking, so parents won’t need to pay so much upfront.

I remember my own school trips with such fond memories – and I know how important it is for children to go on educational visits to learn and laugh with their friends. These trips are a key step in returning to normality for a lot of children and are so important for children’s development and wellbeing.Gavin Williamson, Education Secretary

What can we do in the UK?

We’ve actually added some great UK-based school sports tours over the past year, as we knew that schools would be able to travel within the UK before tours abroad were permitted, and we know how much you’ve all been missing your school sports tours!

So, you can enjoy pro-training tours for football , rugby , cricket , hockey and netball . Rugby groups can take on local opposition in the Lake District or Wales , while netballers can take on local opposition in Northern Ireland .

And if you want to take a number of different teams playing different sports on tour, we have some fantastic multisports options in the UK too.

But with UK school sports tours being given the green light in time for the summer, we’re expecting our pre-season training camps to be incredibly popular this year. Footballers and rugby players can choose from Bath or Wales, and we also offer a multisports option at the National Sport Centre in Lilleshall .

And don’t forget our watersports tours too, which are available at Holme Pierrepont , Lee Valley and the Lake District .

What about school sports tours abroad?

We should have more news for you in April regarding school sports tours abroad, so keep checking here and on our Facebook and Twitter feeds.

In the meantime, if you would like any information or you’d like to request a tailor-made quote for your next school sports tour, please do get in touch – we’re still here ready to help you every step of the way.
