A history school trip to Dover Castle and Kent offers your students the opportunity to explore and understand WW2 from a local perspective, to see what life was like in Britain during wartime.
You’ll visit some of the sites where Hurricanes and Spitfires took off for battle, studying the wreckages of the planes to see how developments in weaponry and transport affected the war. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn more about the experience of aircrews at the time.
You’ll also be able to visit secret underground tunnels, where people sheltered from the frequent air raids during the Battle of Britain. You’ll experience an authentic wartime hospital, stand on board a WW2 Destroyer and learn more about the impact of the Second World War on the local area by visiting a variety of historically significant sites.
