Resort Information

Best for:

Ski the world-famous ‘Milky Way’ (Via Lattea in Italian) on your school ski trip to Italy! One of the Olympic villages for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Sestriere is an internationally-famous resort and part of the massive ‘Milky Way’ area – one of the largest linked areas in Europe. As such, your pass will give you access to a whopping 400km of unbelievably good ski terrain. Our groups normally stay in the charming hamlet of Pragelato, which has a gondola that will take you straight up to the Sestriere ski circuit. You’ll also be just a 10 minute drive from the beginners’ slopes and ski school meeting point in Sestriere.

Skiing Information

The highest altitude of all the Milky Way resorts gives Sestriere the best snow conditions. This means it’s also a great choice for early and late season skiing. The beginner’s runs start from the centre of Sestriere – conveniently, right next to the ski school meeting point. And there’s some really great skiing for intermediates, particularly in the well-known ‘Banchestta’ and ‘Sises’ areas, as well as a snowpark to keep snowboarders happy. From Sestriere you’ll have great connections to the other Milky Way resorts of Claviere, Sansicario, Sauze d’Oulx and Montgenèvre, where you’ll find even more exciting skiing opportunities!

Sestriere is a wonderful resort with huge skiing opportunities for all abilities. The instructors were great, and the hotel food in the white tower was plentiful. Hotel staff and our rep were all pleasant and accessible regularly. The high base of Sestriere gave us great snow for spring, and breath taking views. – Amersham School
