There are a wealth of sites of historical importance to explore on a school trip right here within the UK and students can gain a real understanding of the impact of war on the lives of civilians, as well as how the developments in weaponry and transport affected the conflicts.

Through a variety of visits, students will deepen their knowledge of the historical context of war and be able to make real, personal connections between local, national and international history.

We offer Wartime Britain-themed history school trips to London, Liverpool and Manchester and Kent.

Wartime Britain school trips in the South

In London, students will learn more about what life was like in Britain during WW1 and WW2, with visits to the Imperial War Museum, Churchill War Rooms, the National Army Museum and the Royal Air Force Museum.

They’ll also have the opportunity to learn more about the importance of the act of remembrance, both for individuals and as a nation, with visits to the Cenotaph and Flanders Fields Memorial Garden.

And in Kent, they’ll learn more about the importance of aeroplanes in WW2, as they visit some of the airfields, where Hurricanes and Spitfires took off for battle.

They’ll also visit an authentic wartime hospital and could even explore a WW2 Destroyer.

Wartime Britain school trips in the North

In Liverpool and Manchester, students will discover the important role that the North West played during the Second World War.

They’ll visit an air raid shelter, where they’ll discover what it was really like to be under constant threat of bombing raids and how that affected local people. And they’ll learn about Liverpool’s vital strategic role in the Battle of the Atlantic.

Why arrange a Wartime Britain school trip?

Experience history

Your wartime Britain-themed history school trip offers your students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of what life was like in Britain during WW1 and WW2.

This is the history of the country they live in, and relatively recent history at that, but it can still feel like the distant past to teenagers. By taking your students on a school trip, you’ll bring this period to life for them.

They’ll be able to deepen their understanding of the effect that total war had on normal people, and the way that the country was mobilised to support the war effort. And they’ll explore some of the strategic decisions and actions that were taken right here on British soil.

Inspire them

On your wartime Britain-themed history school trip, your students will gain a deeper appreciation of how this period influenced British culture and continues to affect politics and society to this day.

They’ll start to understand how the study of history can help them to understand the world as it is now and this could help to stoke a real passion for the subject.

You may even inspire them to take their history studies further, just by helping to bring history to life for them.

Enjoy the trip as much as your students

Originally founded by former teachers, we understand the value of history school trips and how to make them successful.

Your trip will be completely tailor made, to ensure that it meets your specific requirements and learning objectives. And we’ll be on hand throughout the process to answer any questions you have.

In fact, we’ll be with you every step of the way, from now until you return home at the end of your trip. While abroad, you’ll be able to reach us with just one phone call, at any time of the day or night. And, with this comprehensive level of support while you’re away, you’ll be able to relax and enjoy immersing yourself in history as much as your students.
