Where Are You Touring This Easter?

Easter is a wonderful time for a school music tour. For one thing, the weather in most destinations is now warm and sunny enough to contemplate outdoor performances! Here we take a look at some of the most popular destinations for school music tours this Easter:

Belgium

If you’re going to go anywhere on a school music tour over Easter, you may as well go to a country that’s famous for its chocolate! Belgium is within easy reach of the UK, making it a really convenient option for a short music tour.

But that doesn’t mean it skimps on the performance experiences – including the opportunity to perform as part of the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate.

Many ensembles also choose to perform in front of the famous Cloth Hall in Ypres, in the town’s main square, where they attract enthusiastic audiences of locals and tourists. And choirs can perform one-hour evening concerts or participate in Mass at St. Bavo’s Cathedral in the heart of Ghent.

Tuscany

Tuscany at Easter is simply magical. There are far fewer tourists than during the summer months, meaning you can enjoy the spectacular cities and charming hilltop towns at your own pace. There are also plenty of festivities to enjoy as this catholic country celebrates the most important festival in its calendar.

For most groups visiting Tuscany, the top choices for performance venues are the many beautiful churches dotted around the area, from the imposing cathedral in Lucca to the much smaller but no less impressive Chiesa di Ognissanti in Florence – the final resting place of both Botticelli and Amerigo Vespucci, after whom the Americas are named.

Paris

As Audrey Hepburn once said, Paris is never a bad idea. But the city is perhaps at its most beautiful in the spring, when the flowers in its many parks and gardens bloom, and blossom adorns the tree-lined avenues. So a school music tour to Paris at Easter is a fantastic idea!

As soon as the weather warms up, life spills out onto the street, reviving the city’s renowned café culture and giving your students the chance to experience the very best that the City of Light has to offer.

As you can imagine, the variety of performance experiences offered in Paris is impressive. You can perform at an iconic church, such as La Madeleine, in the gardens behind the impressive Notre Dame, or on the famous Videopolis Stage at Disneyland® Paris.
