Halsbury Sport's Covid Guarantee

Covid-19 has had a huge impact on school sports tours, but we’re here to help you get booking and travelling with confidence again.

We reached out to you to ask what you needed us to do. Your two biggest concerns were what might happen if you needed to postpone or cancel your trip, and how we would be ensuring your group would be safe on tour.

Our Covid guarantee addresses these two key concerns.

Insurance

We can now offer group travel insurance that covers individuals needing to drop out of the tour in the following circumstances:

- Because a Qualified Medical Practitioner has diagnosed them as positive for Covid-19 within up to 14 days of departure

- Because they have been hospitalised due to Covid-19 within up to 28 days of departure

- Because they have been told to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace for a period of time that prevents them from taking part in the trip

The insurance also covers the additional costs of accommodation and flights should an individual contract Covid-19 and have to self-isolate while abroad. If the individual is under 18, the policy also covers the additional costs to account for a family member to come across or a group leader/teacher to stay with the individual.

Travel With Confidence

Over the summer, we founded a Health and Safety Committee, led by Silvia Vintem, our Head of Health and Safety.

This committee has been working very closely with accommodation and coach providers, training facility providers and restaurants to make sure that your group is safe while on your school sports tour.

What are our suppliers doing?

Accommodation Providers

In response to the crisis, the School Travel Forum (STF) has provided new guidance for accommodation providers to follow, with a focus on infection surveillance.

As an Assured Member of the STF, we require all our accommodation providers to adhere to this new guidance. And all of our accommodation providers have completed the STF’s checklist ensuring the required new measures are in place.

Our accommodation centres will provide information relating to any procedures they have put in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19, which could include:

•Social distancing

•Meticulous personal hygiene

•Effective and regular sanitising of hand touch points

•Contactless payments

•Guest accommodation cleaned with chemicals proven to be effective against Covid-19 and rooms disinfected and sealed after cleaning and before next use

•Use of face masks within public areas, use of disposable gloves

•Temperature checks

Coach Providers

All of our coach providers are now following new cleaning protocols and establishing new guidelines designed to minimise risk.

What are we doing?

Adjusted Itineraries

If any new regulations are introduced in your destination that affect visit and activity providers, such as maximum group sizes or social distancing measures, we’ll make sure your itinerary is adapted to suit.

Meals

We’re working closely with the restaurants we use to make sure that they are following all the local Covid-19 health and safety procedures and guidelines. We’re also adjusting mealtimes to coincide with quieter times of day.

In-Country/Destination Guidance

Of course, before you leave on your school sports tour, we’ll make sure you have all the most up-to-date information on the Covid-19 regulations in your destination.

You can also find up-to-date information on the rules within EU destinations and travel to them (including transit through other countries) on the Re-open EU website. And we would also recommend that you check the FCDO website for up-to-date information regarding travel to and from the UK.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us, as we’ll be very pleased to help.
