Most of our teachers agreed that preparing early, learning key phrases and filler words, and not learning things off by heart are all really important, to ensure that students are confident and won’t be floored by something as simple as forgetting a word.

Preparing to be recorded is also a good idea as this can be off-putting for those that aren’t used to it. Being able to forget the recording equipment is there could be key in keeping them calm, relaxed and focused!

And don't forget, a school trip to France, Spain or Germany to practise speaking the language in its natural environment with native speakers is another great way to prepare students for their speaking exams.
