Paul & Beth's Trip to the Pyrenees - Spain

Earlier this month, Paul and Beth, two of our Halsbury Ski Specialists, flew out to the Pyrenees to find out for themselves why the ski resorts here are such good options for school groups. After their visit to Andorra, they travelled across the border to Spain, to visit Alp 2500 and the resorts of La Molina and Masella. Here, Beth tells us how they got on:

On arrival at our hotel in La Molina, we sat down to watch presentations from some of the local activity providers, before visiting some of the hotels that we offer school groups. I was really impressed with how well set-up the accommodation was for groups; there were meeting spaces and even in-house disco rooms, meaning that there really is something for every group. That evening, we had the very great pleasure of sampling some local Catalan cuisine, which was delicious!

The following morning, we enjoyed a spot of skiing in La Molina. This resort is perfect for beginners and offers fantastic progression, with long blues that start from the top of the mountain. Intermediate and advanced skiers are also well-catered for, with a good selection of red runs. The resort even has its own bowling alley and entertainment zone for your evening activities. For those who like to shop, there is the beautiful nearby town of Puigcerda, which makes for a lovely afternoon out. There is also the possibility of watching CG Puigcerda in an ice hockey match.

After dinner that evening, we enjoyed some night skiing in La Molina, which is a fantastic experience. The piste was truly magical by torchlight – we had a brilliant evening!

The following morning, we spent some time in Masella, which offers stunning tree-lined pistes and more challenging skiing for our groups. We also did some night skiing here, which is often a big hit with our groups, and I can see why! With 13 runs and 7 lifts all floodlit, this makes for a truly memorable experience, and I would recommend adding some delicious churros and hot chocolate to make it a truly magical evening!
