Quite simply this is one of the best attractions in Cologne! The first part of the exhibition is a history of cocoa and how it is grown and harvested. You also learn about how chocolate is made and can see some machines at work. Don''t forget to visit the chocolate fountain either, where you will get a free wafer dripping with Lindt chocolate. You can also see the various different methods that were (and still are) used in the advertising of chocolate.
Two other aspects of the museum that are worth visiting are the Cafe and the Shop. In the shop, you can buy almost any type of Lindt chocolate. The cafe is definitely worth a visit. Sample the hot chocolate - it is incredible, topped with whipped cream and served with a little square of Lindt chocolate. The cakes too are absolutely fantastic - but it is perhaps advised to share as the slices are pretty big! The menu is in English and German and the staff friendly.
It is wise to leave a couple of hours for the museum, especially if you want to sample the delights of the cafe and visit the shop.
