Winter Olympics Ski Packages

With the Winter Olympics kicking off next month, excitement around winter sports is at fever pitch!
But did you know that you can give your students a taste of the Winter Olympics on your next school ski trip?
Your students can stay in the same accommodation the athletes used and can ski some of the Olympic runs. Who knows, perhaps you’ll inspire future Team GB winter sports stars with your next school ski trip!
The resorts below all hosted events during the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
Bardonecchia

Completely revamped for the 2006 Winter Olympics, Bardonecchia is now one of Italy’s top resorts.
The resort hosted the snowboarding events during the Turin Winter Olympics and offers great variety for both snowboarders and skiers with an extensive network of pistes and a fantastic terrain park.
You’ll stay in the Hotel Villaggio Olimpico, just 250m from the lifts. This is the very same accommodation that the athletes stayed in during the Olympics and, as such, it boasts excellent facilities, including a swimming pool and sauna, Turkish baths, fitness centre, meeting rooms and a games room.
Sansicario

Sansicario hosted the biathlon and alpine skiing events.
The resort sits at the centre of a huge natural bowl and is a fantastic base for a school ski trip because it offers great access to the rest of the Milky Way.
Again, this former Olympic resort offers your group the opportunity to stay in the same accommodation as the Olympic athletes which, in Sansicario, also means doorstep skiing as a blue run leads right to the hotel.
There’s also a magic carpet lift and nursery slopes right outside the hotel, making this a great choice for beginners.
And the accommodation also boasts an in-house ski hire shop, which is ideal for school groups.
Sestriere

Sestriere also hosted some alpine skiing events during the Turin Winter Olympics, including the slalom, combined slalom and giant slalom, as well as the men’s combined (downhill), downhill and super-g.
Boasting the highest altitude of all the Milky Way resorts, Sestriere is a great choice for an early or late season school ski trip.
The beginners’ runs start in the centre of the resort and there are some exciting runs for intermediates here too!
Claviere

During the 2006 Winter Olympics, the resort of Claviere was an official Olympic training site.
A school ski trip to Claviere offers the exciting opportunity to ski in both Italy and France. Like the other resorts, there are great options for beginners and intermediates, as well as some Olympic runs for the more advanced skiers.
You’ll have access to over 110km of pistes, including those at Cesana thanks to the Monti della Luna pass. Your pass will also offer you one day’s skiing in Montgenevre and one day’s access to the whole of the Milky Way!
