Resort Information

Grandvalira sits right on Andorra’s border with France, in the spectacular Pyrenees. Its duty-free status means that school ski trips to Grandvalira, and Andorra in general, offer really great value for money. And you and your students will be able to enjoy some great duty-free shopping here too! Grandvalira is the biggest ski area in the Pyrenees, with over 210km of piste spread across a number of resorts including Encamp, Grau Roig, Pas de la Casa, El Tarter, Soldeu and Canillo. This fantastic choice means that we can find a base and accommodation to really suit your group. When you’re not skiing, there are plenty of exciting après-ski activities to try, including dog-sledding and snowmobile rides.

Skiing Information

Heavy investment in the ‘90s and early ‘00s vastly improved the quality and quantity of Grandvalira’s lift system and snowmaking capabilities. And now, its facilities are world-class. The lift system now has a capacity of up to 100,000 skiers per hour, so you won’t be spending time queuing! And the snowmaking covers around 65% of the ski area, so lack of snow won’t be an issue either. Grand Valira offers diverse skiing, which is important for school ski holidays. There are a whopping 128 slopes, with plenty suitable for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers.

Aprés-Ski at Grandvalira

ice skating - andorra

The Palau de Gel is located in the heart of Canillo, at the bottom of ski station Grandvalira. This large sports centre offers both a swimming pool and an ice rink. The latter is Olympic-sized (60m x 30m) and, as well as offering sessions during the day, also offers evening sessions with music and lights!

swimming pool - andorra

The Palau de Gel is a large sports centre at the foot of the Grandvalira ski station. The heated swimming pool (25m x 12.50m with a depth of 1.60 m -2.10 m) is divided into lanes for swimmers and offers a space for groups.

pizza night

This restaurant has a 70s/80s Americana theme, with a sprinkle of 'rock 'n' roll'. Pizza, burgers and hotdogs are just some examples of the food available - perfect for hungry teenagers!

ice karting

Test your driving skills against your friends with an ice karting session at the Palau de Gel, at the foot of the Grandvalira ski station. Individual series of 10 minutes on the circuit marked on the ice rink.

broomball

Broomball originated in Canada and is played on an ice hockey rink. Players wear rubber-soled shoes, and use a 'broom' instead of a hockey stick and a ball instead of a puck. Great for something a little different!

curling

This precision sport, similar to boules and practised on the ice rink, rose in popularity thanks to the Winter Olympics. 2 teams compete against each other by sliding 8 granite stones of 20 kg each. Who will come out on top?

bowling

If you are looking for a fun après-ski activity to enjoy with your group, bowling is the perfect choice after a long day of skiing.

thermal spa

Caldea is Europe's largest thermal mountain spa. It truly is huge, offering a vast array of facilities, such as Indo-Roman baths, outside lagoons, Jacuzzis and saunas. Located 1,000ft above sea level, the spa uses water from a thermal spring, offering a new concept in leisure and wellness. Ideal for chilling out and relaxing those muscles after a long day of skiing!

swimming pool

This excellent multi-sports centre offers an Olympic-sized indoor swimming pool (50 × 21m), as well as a smaller learner's pool (12,5 × 6m). The perfect place to unwind after a day on the slopes!

Swimming caps and flip-flops compulsory. Swimming caps can be purchased directly from the Centre at £3 each.
