How to Survive Summer

Whilst we all love a bit of summer sun (on the rare occasion we get any in the UK), if you’re anything like us, you’re probably already counting the days ‘til the season starts again. But don’t worry, here are some of our top tips on how to survive, and even enjoy, the summer!

1. Take up a new sport or activity

If you’re a snowboarder, you could try a new board sport, such as surfing, skateboarding, wakeboarding…there’s loads to choose from! Skiers may like to give the curious sport of grass skiing a go. If it’s the mountains you miss, why not try mountain biking or climbing? Hiking’s also a great activity that will also help to keep your fitness levels up.

2. Enjoy some après-ski at home

So, you’re being healthy and trying out a new sport. Make sure you balance this out by enjoying a little après-ski at home! There’s a number of après/Alpine-themed bars and restaurants around the country. Or why not hold an Alpine evening at home? Invite friends round and crack out the fondue, rustle up a tartiflette and get your chops round some delicious cured meats.

3. Hit the slopes

That’s right. There’s still plenty of options for those of us who can’t last until winter. Why not hit your local indoor snow centre? Want the real thing? Several of Europe’s glacier resorts open over the summer, including Les 2 Alpes, Tignes and Dachstein. Got a bigger budget? Head to the Southern Hemisphere, where the winter season is now underway!

4. Watch some ski films

Loads of awesome films dropped last season (including the Eddie the Eagle movie) to add to the thousands (probably) already out there, so there’s plenty to choose from. Perfect to chill out with on a balmy summer evening (when we get one, of course…).

5. Start getting ready for the next season

It’s never too early to start prepping for next season. Start your fitness regime early and you could reduce the risk of injury. If you own your own equipment, give it a good once over to make sure it’s still in tip-top condition. Finally, hit the shops – you’re bound to find plenty of ski gear on sale right now and you could nab yourself a real bargain!

Of course, another great way to survive the summer is to start planning your next school ski trip. Contact our friendly team today for any information or advice you need.
