School Trip to Manchester and Liverpool - WW2

A school history trip to Manchester and Liverpool with a focus on WW2 offers your students the opportunity to see what life was like in wartime Britain and the important role the North played.

Manchester and Liverpool are both home to a great variety of museums and attractions that will help your students to experience life in wartime Britain for themselves. They’ll also see the tactical importance of these cities in the Allied path to victory, challenging the London-centric history of WW2 we’re used to.

Explore the fantastic Imperial War Museum North in Trafford, an area that saw heavy bombardment during the Manchester Blitz. And don’t miss a visit to Stockport Air Raid Shelters to see what life was like for local people who had to shelter underground from the bombs falling on their home. Another of our favourite visits is the Western Approaches Museum. Who knew that tacticians were busy helping to guide the Allied route to victory from a secret bunker underneath the streets of Liverpool?
