New Regulations on Travelling with Children to South Africa

On 1st October 2014, new regulations will come into force regarding travelling with children to South Africa. Anyone travelling with a person under the age of 18 years must carry the correct documentation with them.

With regards to school groups, where children are travelling with adults who are not their biological parents, the required documentation is as follows:

•Unabridged birth certificate

•Affidavits from parent(s) or legal guardian confirming their consent for their children to travel with the accompanying adult(s)

•Copies of parent(s)’s or legal guardian’s identity document (e.g. passport)

•Contact details of parent(s) or legal guardian

Please remember also that every UK citizen travelling to South Africa must travel on a passport that remains valid for a minimum of 30 days from the exit from South Africa. The passport must also have at least two blank pages when presented to South African immigration. If you are a UK citizen travelling to South Africa for up to 90 days, you will not normally require a visa.
