Looking Back Over 2017/18

As we come to the end of another academic year, we’d like to take a moment to thank all of you for choosing Halsbury for your many wonderful school trips that have taken place this year.

In fact, nearly 22,000 of you have travelled on over 500 trips with us this year! That’s an incredible number of young minds who’ve been inspired by the experience of travelling with their school and learning outside the classroom. Hopefully, your students have made you aware of how much your hard work and dedication is appreciated.

It has been another incredible year so, before it comes to an end, we thought we’d take a quick look back at some of our highlights.

Half term trips as popular as ever

Huge numbers of you travelled during October half term and Easter – and we took a closer look at the travel trends during those periods to see which destinations were coming out on top.

Ryde Academy’s school history trip to Berlin and Krakow captured on film

Earlier this year Ryde Academy visited Berlin and Krakow on their history school trip. Our cameras followed them, to see what they got up to, and to find out what their teacher, Mr Beverley, had to say about his experience of working with Halsbury.

We got to travel too!

We all love travel here at Halsbury (obviously!) and so when we can we’re always super keen to visit our destinations. Visiting the destinations we offer ourselves means we’re much better placed to advise Group Leaders.

This year, we’ve been to Paris, Vietnam, Normandy and Berlin, to name but a few. In Normandy, we went to see our new accommodation centre that’s ideal for school groups. And in Vietnam, our Zoe and James enjoyed a number of activities available to groups, and learnt just how much value for money this destination offers.

We enjoyed helping to get your students talking

Over the year we’ve had a number of opportunities to help get your students talking. It all kicked off in September, when many of you downloaded our free game and wordcloud.

Then, in March we sponsored the Promising Newcomer: Secondary Language Teaching award at Language World 2018. Virgina Alfaro was the winner and our Kristie had a quick word with her after the ceremony to find out what had inspired her to go into language teaching.

Finally, concerned that uptake for languages at GCSE and A Level is still in decline, we recently produced a free poster for your classroom designed to give pupils an idea of where languages can take them.

If you’ve not got your enquiry or booking in for next year yet, or you want to get ahead of the game with your next school trip, then you’ll be pleased to learn that we’ll be here throughout the summer, ready to answer any questions you may have, so please don't hesitate to contact us!
