When it comes to GCSE and A Level options, there’s stiff competition to encourage students to pick your subject.
The key is to show them that your subject will open doors for them in the future to exciting careers!
Show your students where the subject can take them!
We recently created a set of careers posters illustrating where subjects can take students.
If you haven’t already, make sure you download yours and display it somewhere prominent in your class or department!

How can a school trip help?
A school can encourage take-up of your subject in a few ways.
Firstly, the promise of an exciting school trip could tip the balance towards your subject for students torn between two.
And then, the trip also gives students the opportunity to see the subject in action in the ‘real world’.
This is important because the understanding that the subject is useful in life will mean that students who may not be thinking about a related career will still apply themselves, as they comprehend the benefits.
Finally, a school trip is, like our posters, a great way of showing your students the doors that your subject will open for them.
As they travel around your chosen destination, they may meet people with interesting careers related to the subject.
Or guides, as they go into more depth on a specific topic, may mention careers your students have never heard of before.
