Quite simply this is one of the best attractions in Cologne! The first part of the exhibition is a history of cocoa and how it is grown and harvested. You also learn about how chocolate is made and can see some machines at work. Don''t forget to visit the chocolate fountain either, where you will get a free wafer dripping with Lindt chocolate. You can also see the various different methods that we...
Köln-Düsseldorfer Line’s river cruises offer a unique perspective on two of Germany’s most scenic river valleys. Most towns and villages along the Rhine and Moselle have a regular service, and it’s possible to hop on and hop off from Cologne all the way down to Mainz. Please note that KD run a limited river cruise timetable during the Winter months - please ask fo...
Phantasialand is one of Europe’s top entertainment parks. Situated in Brühl near Cologne in the heart of the Rhineland it is the number one German theme park for visitors from the UK. In the run up to Christmas it transforms into a Winter Wonderland. The Roman mosaic with scenes from the world of Dionysos (around 220/230 A.D.) and the reconstructed tomb of the legionary Poblicius (around 40 A.D.) are probably the best known exhibits of the Römisch-Germanisches Museum in Cologne. The museum''s collection has profited from the archaeological legacy of Cologne and the surrounding region which spans a period from prehistoric times to the earl...
Next door to the Chocolate Museum, this museum tells the story of the Olympic Games from ancient Greece to the present day and remembers some of Germany's sporting heroes of the past.
The Hard Rock Cafe Cologne opened on April 28,2003, a welcome addition to the city. Try it for some tasty American food, and the best live music in the city.
The Kölnisches Stadtmuseum is set in a large old building with exhibition space of 2,000 sq. metres and provides an insight into the history, culture, economy and everyday life of Cologne and its inhabitants. What our teachers had to say about this destination
Delightful- went to three markets, excellent coach and coach driver, clean and spacious accommodation.
Overall we enjoyed the service from Halsbury immensely. All contact with Halsbury was extremely professional. When we needed to contact the out of hours numbers they picked up promptly and sorted out our problems. We would recommend Halsbury in the future.
Loads to do in Cologne and all the students had a fantastic time!
Cologne is such a fantastic city to visit in any season, but the pupils thoroughly enjoyed visiting the markets and ice skating on a fantastic outdoor rink.
Everything worked out brilliantly. The centre of Cologne, the cathedral and all the different Christmas markets offered more than enough for all students!
We are very happy with the standard of service provided by Halsbury and look forward to the same high standards in the future. Thanks to all Halsbury staff for speedy and useful responses to our queries. We had a great trip.
A fantastic destination for an end-of-term, post mock exams trip with year 11. Loads to see and do and all in a relatively compact area. the people at Halsbury with whom I have worked for over a decade now are excellent at providing exactly what you want and when you want it. 100% recommended!
Cologne and Aachen Christmas markets are well worth a visit. The youth hostel was comfortable and ideally located. An excellent and festive end to the term!
Cologne is a fantastic destination.
An excellent trip! The 40 girls we took absolutely loved it and said it was the best school trip they had ever been on. They particularly enjoyed ice-skating.
Details were comprehensive and relevant. The entire trip ran very smoothly!
Absolutely delighted once again with the excellent level of service, speed in replies to requests and expertise. Thanks once again for all your help. Thanks also to our driver. His affable and flexible approach made our trip all the more enjoyable. Thanks to all who dealt with all aspects of our trip.
Excellent trip. This trip was an accident really as it was a cancelled Christmas market trip, which we decided to move to Cologne. It was absolutely excellent and I would definitely consider doing this trip again, as well as the Christmas market trip! The coach driver was excellent; the breakfast at the cafe was outstanding; the chocolate factory was great fun and Cologne as a destintion was fabulous. Right next to the cathedral was a pedestrianised shopping street, so we could give students free time to go shopping.
One of the most enjoyable trips ever! Thank you!
Cologne and the activities scheduled for my group of yr 10 and 11 pupils were perfect. The Xmas Markets are very accessible by foot and we have found that the combination of: Xmas Market at Cathedral, Chocolate Museum, Ice-skating, Xmas Market in the old town, Hard Rock Cafe and final round up after dark at the Xmas Market at the Cathedral was perfect! The pupils REALLY enjoyed it and it was excellent value for money! I would just like to say that Laura and the team at Halsbury once again, delivered a brilliantly organised trip that was easy to do as group leader! I'll definitely be using you again next time I visit the Xmas Markets in Cologne in 2013!
