School Food Technology Trip to Naples and Sorrento

Give your students the opportunity to learn how to make a true Napolitan pizza at this typical Sorrento Farm. To finish the demonstration, everyone will have the chance to eat a typical home made starter, a Margherita pizza and a dessert.
During this one hour visit, your students will learn how to make classic Italian ice cream. They will be shown how to make two typical flavours of ice cream, and will have the chance to help the Ice Cream Maker to prepare the materials, freeze it and then finally, the chance to sample their own ice cream in a cone.
In this picturesque agricultural farm, dotted with orange, lemon and olive groves, your students will be shown how to make Mozzarella the old fashioned way. To finish the tour, you will be given a light snack with mozzarella, salami, some typical products and bread.
This demonstration explains the entire process of Mozzarella making from the first drop of milk to the final product which students will have the chance to taste. The excursion can also be combined with a guided tour of a Limoncello Factory, where students will be able to taste the famous Limoncello of Sorrento.
During this class your students will cook a 3 course meal with a chef in an informal, relaxed atmosphere. This will help them to learn all about Nepolitan and Mediterranean cuisine. During the tour, you will watch many years of experience and knowledge at work when viewing the demonstration on how to make this artisanal cheese. Your students will gain an appreciation of the passion that is needed to make an excellent product. The tour ends with a tasting of freshly made mozzarella cheese.
Start off your visit to this olive oil factory with a walk round the olive grove where you can listen to an explanation of the growing and harvesting methods. Next, you will visit both the ancient and the modern oil mills. To conclude your visit, your group will be invited to taste some olive oil with bread and then have the opportunity to purchase some of the products.
This ice cream class gives your students the opportunity to see how gelato is made. As well as the demonstration, students will be given 2 ice creams to try, a certificate to show that they have participated and they will also be given recipes on how to make gelato at home.
Hotel Oriente is located in the beautiful Sorrento peninsula in Vico Equense. All rooms are en-suite and have a sea view and air conditioning.
