School Italian Culture Trip to Naples and Sorrento
An Italian school trip to Naples and Sorrento will give your students the opportunity to enjoy a taste of the ‘real’ Italy!
Naples has a unique character that your students will find fascinating. Mount Vesuvius looms in the background and can be seen from almost any point in the city and is the reason that the food from this area is some of the best in Italy. The historic city centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with narrow alleyways leading to mysterious, ornately decorated churches, catacombs and underground caverns.
Sorrento is a very different experience. Perched on top of steep, white cliffs, Sorrento is a beautiful resort town, which offers spectacular views across the Bay of Naples. The relaxed atmosphere makes Sorrento the perfect base for your Italian school trip, allowing you to explore the fascinating city of Naples, the ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum and the elegant island of Capri.
You could decide to turn this into a cross-curricular school trip by joining forces with the geography, classical studies or food technology departments in your school.

The fortress is a star-shaped castle with six ramparts. During the revolution of 1647, so-called “Masaniello’s Revolt”, the Spanish viceroy took refuge in the fortress to escape the revolutionaries. Sant’Elmo was also the symbol of the short period of the Neapolitan Republic of 1799.
The fortress has been restored to public use since 1980 and houses the "Bruno Molajoli" Art History museum.
