What to bring?
It is very important that you keep warm and dry on the slopes – no one will enjoy a wet and cold experience!
Ski/snowboard equipment
You do not need to bring your own equipment as everything will be pre-booked and waiting for you to collect at the resort on your first day. Please note that if your prefered method of travel is by Air then most Airlines will charge an additional supplement for the carriage of ski/snowboards.
Hats
We can lose up to 40% of our body’s heat through our heads, so wearing a hat will make a big difference. Make sure it is a hat suitable for skiing – you don’t want to lose it half way down the slope.
Socks
We recommend tube or inner loop socks, and make sure you cut your toenails before you go. We do not recommend using two pairs of normal socks as it will cause you painful blisters and ruin your week.
Under the jacket
Try to wear something cotton or polypropylene underneath as these materials will transport moisture outwards away from the body. It is better to wear a couple of thin layers rather than one thick, so you can take some of if you get too hot during the day.
Jacket and trousers
Make sure to bring a good warm jacket that is both windproof and waterproof. Ideally get one that is not too “chunky” so you will be free to move. The jacket should be long enough to fully cover your kidney area and have cuffed sleeves. Metal zips can freeze to the skin, so try to get plastic.
Trousers should also be windproof and waterproof, have plastic zips and make sure they unzip at the bottom to fit around you boots. Salopettes are popular trousers for skiing and have a high back and shoulder straps.
Gloves/mittens
It is worth getting a pair of good gloves, if you hand are cold you will not be a happy skier. It is easier to keep your hands warm in mittens as they permit better circulation.
Sunglasses
Sunglasses will help you avoid snow blindness, and are ideal for use in sunny still weather. If you wear sunglasses, make sure they are made of unbreakable glass. If it is snowing heavily, you might prefer a pair of goggles.
Sum cream/lip balm
Silly as it might sound, the reflective effect of the snow makes it easy to get burnt on the slopes, so do bring a high factor sun lotion and lip balm.
