Bulgaria's #1 ski resort
Located at the foot of the beautiful Pirin Mountains, Bansko is a traditional Bulgarian town that has recently developed into a superb ski centre. This rapidly expanding resort has a mixture of old world charm, some fantastic modern hotels and breathtaking views, making it an excellent choice for your ski holiday.

Bansko is a charming, traditional Bulgarian town that is rapidly developing into a fantastic ski resort. Since 2002 there has been a massive investment project to transform this area into a top European resort. Thirty million Euros has been spent so far and the results are really starting to show with new lifts, improved snow making and a much increased ski area. Offering Alpine quality at Bulgarian prices, it is little wonder that Bansko is really growing in popularity.
The season here is long running from December to May and snow coverage tends to be excellent. Over 80% of the slopes now have snow cannon coverage and piste maintenance is first class.
First time skiers will find Bansko has lots to offer and the local ski schools provide excellent tuition. There are numerous well-groomed runs which are ideal for beginners to build confidence and practice their turns. Intermediates can also have plenty of fun on the good choice of blue and red runs which are all joined by a system of chair and drag lifts. The longest run here is an incredible 16km from the top of Todorka Peak, at the highest point of the area, all the way to the base station of the gondola lift at the outskirts of town and the last 7km of the run are floodlit. It's fairly gentle so confident novices should be able to manage it by the end of the week.
Bansko has a reputation for extreme skiing and some of the red runs and the Alberto Tomba black run offer advanced skiers plenty of challenges in the main area.
The town is a unique mix of old traditions and modern style. The town centre is a listed World Heritage site and groups can enjoy wandering the cobbled streets and visiting the museums and the old Clock Tower. This is also Bulgaria's number one resort for après ski so there is a full range of activities on offer including an ice rink and bowling alley as well as a wide selection of bars and restaurants.
