Beautiful skiing above the clouds
First time visitors to Gosau are overwhelmed by its sheer beauty. The valley is characterised by the vast, rugged "Gosaukamm" mountain range, two church spires and its steep, wooded valley sides.
A charming rustic village with an often lively nightlife, Gosau is linked by lift to Annaberg and Russbach on the West Dachstein Pass (other areas have a free bus link). Moreover Gosau and the skiing area Dachstein-West are known as a ‘Schneeloch’ (snow hole).
Due to the mountains which surround the region the clouds get caught and bring heavy snowfalls, this coupled with an impressive artificial snowmaking system that improves the snow cover on the slopes leading back to the resort means an impressive snow-sure record.

After a few hours ‘piste-bashing’ traditional rustic ski huts invite you in for a rest and a warm-up. The area prides itself in the famous Austrian ‘gemütlichkeit’ and hospitality. This includes apres-ski too, you can enjoy horse-drawn sleigh trips; toboggan runs (the resort's toboggan run is illuminated for night use); curling and get-togethers with the locals at the regular’s table.
