School Ski Trip to Nassfeld

Sits on Austrian/Italian border

Average snowfall of 6-8m every winter

100hrs more sunshine than Northern Alps

Resort Information

Nassfeld is Carinthia’s largest and most modern ski resort, and is often cited as one of Austria’s best. The main mode of transport up the mountain is the Millennium Express gondola, which takes just 17 minutes to transport you to an altitude in excess of 2,000m. From this point, there are stunning views over the Austrian and Italian Alps, as well as the 110km of piste that Nassfeld has to offer. Off piste there are 14 mountain restaurants and bars, where groups can enjoy the famous Austrian hospitality and cuisine, as well as sampling delicacies from nearby Italy and Slovenia. Ideal for school ski tours, there is a great variety of après-ski activities for students to get involved in here, such as skating on Europe’s largest natural ice rink, Lake Weissensee. Not to be missed is the opportunity to try out some of the more alternative methods of transport, such as sledges, snowbikes, airboards and skifoxes!

Skiing Information

Thanks to its high altitude and comprehensive snow cannon coverage, Nassfeld has a good snow record. From the top of the gondola, skiers will have access to pistes suitable for all levels of ability, as well as some great off-piste runs into Italy! The longest run in the resort is 7.6km and known as the ‘Carnia’. Every Wednesday, 2.2km of it is floodlit, giving groups the opportunity to try their hand at a bit of night-skiing. Boarders are also well catered for in Nassfeld, with two snow parks offering quarter pipes, kickers, table tops and a snow cross park, which was the venue of the 2004 Junior World Championships. There is also an excellent English-speaking ski/board school that will really help your group to progress throughout the trip.

Excellent resort and hotel.
