Eiffel Tower

Eiffel Tower
The instantly recognisable symbol of Paris, The Eiffel Tower can be seen from almost any point in the city and the view from the top is truly awe-inspiring. It dominates Paris to such an extent that it's hard to believe it's only a little over a century old having been built in 1889 to celebrate the centenary of the French revolution. No trip to Paris would be complete without a visit to the Eiff...

Louvre Museum

Louvre Museum
Housed in France's former royal palace, the Louvre is now one of the finest and most complete art galleries in the world. It’s collections range from the ancient world to the twentieth century, with the Pyramid and CyberLouvre multimedia gallery bringing the collection right up to date. But most visitors are only here to see one thing - The Mona Lisa's Enigmatic smile.

Pompidou Centre

Since 1977, the Pompidou Centre has been France's leading centre for contemporary arts. Palace of Versailles

Palace of Versailles
The biggest and most elaborate royal palace in Europe, Versailles was built to reflect the glory of the Sun King, Louis XIV. It’s a fascinating insight into France's history. Our highlights include the Queen's Hamlet a sort of play farm built for Marie Antoinette's amusement, where among the thatched cottages, a watermill and a lake she and her court acted out a fantasy of peasant life and the Hal...

Château d'Ussé

Château d'Ussé
Literature describes this château, overlooking the banks of the river Indre, as the original Sleeping Beauty castle; Charles Perrault - author of this beloved 17th-century tale - spent time here as a guest of the Count of Saumur and legend has it that Ussé inspired him to write the famous story. Though parts of the castle are from the 1400s, most of it was completed two centuries later. By the 17t...

Doué-la-Fontaine Zoo

Doué-la-Fontaine Zoo
This zoo is perhaps one of France''s best and is a fabulous day out. As you head down to the entrance you wonder what awaits you, but all is revealed when you see that the zoo is in an old quarry with much evidence of troglodytic dwellings. This makes it ideal for a hot, sunny day as there is lots of shade provided by the great variety of trees, bamboo and acacias. The more than 500 animals have l...

Abbaye Royale de Fontevraud

Abbaye Royale de Fontevraud
The Abbey of Fontevraud is where the last French nobles of the first Angevin dynasty, who gained renown as the first ''Plantagenêt'' kings and queens of England, were buried. It is often described as the royal necropolis of the ''Angevin Kings and Queens''. However, such a description fails to recognize the much more important extent - and even the true context - of their remarkable realm. For in ...

La Cave des Vignerons de Saumur

La Cave des Vignerons de Saumur
The Saumur Cave des Vignerons is in the heart of the Saumur Champigny vineyard. Located at the top of the Saint Cyr-en-Bourg hill, it looks like a temple of wine surrounded by vines. The wines at the Cave des Vignerons are stored in 10 km of underground tunnels.
