One of the earliest Nazi concentration camps, Sachsenhausen began to receive Jews and political dissidents in large numbers in the aftermath of Kristallnacht. Some 100,000 people died here between 1938 and the end of the war. Another 12,000 German prisoners of war died at a Soviet-run camp on the same site between 1945 and 1950.
(They advise groups of no bigger than 30 persons for guided tours).
