The Ebro Delta lies southwest of Barcelona in the Catalonia region of Spain. It covers 320 square kilometres making it the second largest wetland area in the western Mediterranean. The Delta has a variety of different ecosystems, including lagoons, sand dunes, salt marsh and rice fields – the latter making the area important agriculturally. The hidden pleasures and natural beauty of the Delta will make an excellent tour destination for any Geography and Geology group.

Day 1
Fly from UK to Barcelona
Transfer to Tarragona and check in to hotel. Explore local area on foot. 
Day 2 Morning transfer to information centre of the Ebro Delta for introduction on natural and human ecosystems. Enjoy a boat trip to the river mouth and learn about natural habitats and an area that is rich in natural wealth Return to hotel for evening meal and follow up on studies.
Day 3 Full day excursion to Barcelona and visit to the Port of Barcelona. Afternoon visit to Montserrat, one of the most distinctive landforms of Catalonia. Return to hotel for evening meal and follow up on studies.
Day 4 Morning visit to Tarragona for last minute shopping. Transfer from hotel to airport for return flight to the UK.

Hotel SB Express

The hotel, opened in July 2002, is easily accessible from exit 33 of the A7. Close to the city centre, just 8 km from Port Aventura, 1.5 km from the train station, 500 metres from the bus station and 900 metres from Tarraco Romana (World Heritage site).

The hotel has 90 double rooms (36 of which can be converted into quadruples, the rest into triples). All are tastefully decorated and completely sound-proofed and are equipped with air conditioning, bathroom with hairdryer, satellite TV, Canal+, free individual safe, direct telephone and additional ADSL connection for laptop computers.

The hotel also has a cafeteria serving coffee, snacks and a wide range of breakfast dishes, one course meals, salads and hot and cold sandwiches. Open from 7am to 11pm with vending service at night.

Hotel Calypso

This hotel has 500 rooms, spread across two wings and has recently been renovated. It has a lobby with reception desk, souvenir shop, bar/cafeteria with video games and television lounge with satellite.
Students will usually be accommodated in multi-bedded rooms and staff in twins, rooms are complete with bathroom, telephone, safety deposit box (for hire), air conditioning (during summer) and balcony.
There is also a large swimming pool and sunbathing terrace.
