View all trips to KrakowA school trip to Poland really is unmissable for any history or religious studies groups studying the Nazis and the Holocaust.
Not only will you have the challenging yet hugely important experience of visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau, you can also visit the beautiful cities of Krakow and Warsaw to explore what life was like for the Jewish population of Poland before and after the Nazi invasion, including being forced to live in terrible conditions in ghettos.
On a history school trip to Poland, you can also learn about the resistance movement in the country, with a visit to Schindler’s Factory. You may even like to consider making this a multicentre educational tour by combining it with Berlin, to deepen your students’ understanding of the devastating impact of the Nazis and the Holocaust on Europe.

View all trips to KrakowLocated in the heart of Central Europe, Poland played a key role in the Second World War. Its invasion by Nazi Germany on 1st September 1939 led to France and Britain declaring war on Germany two days later. Later that same month, the Soviet Union invaded Poland from the east, although by 1941 the Nazis had occupied the whole country. It’s believed that around 6 million Polish citizens were killed during WW2, including 90% of the country’s Jews.
The Nazis set up six extermination camps in Poland, including the infamous Auschwitz-Birkenau camp. Jews from all over Europe were transported to these camps to be murdered. Ethnic Poles too were subject to Nazi persecution, so a history school trip to Poland is surely one of the best ways to help students understand what life was really like under Nazi occupation and to help them understand that history cannot be allowed to repeat itself.
